Two weeks of rehearsal...
Two Madison-area performances...
Thanks to John Barker for mentioning us in his best of 2016 saying, “For choral music, the Isthmus Vocal Ensemble gave the Brahms German Requiem about the best performance I have ever heard. Scott McPherson drew out of 114 singers truly remarkable clarity plus outstanding German diction.”

We are looking for a permanent Artistic Director beginning in the summer of 2018 from now to May 5th, 2017. Details can be found here. The dates for auditioning our director have been set: June 9, 10, & 11, 2017.
Our 2017 Concert season:
2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Artistic Director Scott MacPherson's mentor, Robert Fountain. Dr. Fountain's profound influence touched the lives of many of the singers in IVE, and we look forward to honoring his legacy through song. It also marks the final year that IVE will sing under our founding director, Dr. MacPherson. Those of us (like your humble webmaster) who sang under both musicians feel deeply blessed and fortunate. We look forward to seeing you there.
We have a video of us during the World Premiere of Andrew Rindfleisch's Song of Jubilation on YouTube. Thanks to Andy for giving us permission to post it.

Since 2002, the Isthmus Vocal Ensemble has maintained a remarkable tenure as one of Madison's most elusive yet enduring summer musical institutions.
Built from the great choral traditions of Robert Fountain and other luminaries, the group unites the talents of director Scott MacPherson with some of the Midwest's top singers for a brief, intensive rehearsal period. The result: two sparkling performances that linger with audiences throughout the year.
Our 2016 performances were (and 2017 will be) supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Our heartfelt thanks to them for contributing to the development of the arts, the economy, and the community.
Join us for our 2017 season!
